Capitol Hill Hotel

May 7, 2018 by E. Casa de Calvo

Washington, D.C. ~ I had the pleasure of staying at the Capitol Hill Hotel, located in (you guessed it!) Capitol Hill. Not only was the hotel beautiful and full of wonderful amenities, it was also located in a charming historic residential area. It was so much fun walking around the neighborhood, and enjoying the local restaurants and businesses. It is easy to imagine living here, if I had an endless supply of money. Needless to say, living here ain’t cheap! […]

International Spy Museum

April 30, 2018 by E. Casa de Calvo

Washington, D.C. ~ I highly recommend visiting the International Spy Museum. This was one of the most fascinating museums I’ve been to in a while. Sure, art and culture are all around D.C. (for free), but this museum is totally worth paid admission, which is reasonable. I personally have an interest in the history of intelligence practices, and in the cultural and political forces that shape our world today. Washington, D.C. ~ The featured photo in this set is the “Friendship Archway,” a Chinese gate at H and 7th Street. All photos were taken in the historic Chinatown area, east of downtown along H and I and 5th and 8th street.

National Gallery of Art Sculpture Garden

April 30, 2018 by E. Casa de Calvo

Washington, D.C. ~ If you are in the D.C. area, you should stop by the National Gallery of Art Sculpture Garden. The onsite Pavilion Café isn’t too shabby either. My favorite sculpture has to be the “Entrance to the Paris Metro” by Hector Guimard. The Typewriter Eraser is also pretty cool.

United States Capitol

April 28, 2018 by E. Casa de Calvo

Washington, D.C. ~ The United States Capitol, home of the United States Congress. Located at: East Capitol St NE & First St SE, Washington, DC 20004. Whenever I think of the legislative system, I can’t help but hearing the Schoolhouse Rock song, I’m Just a Bill (1975).
