Snoopy’s
Corpus Christi, TX ~ We are shivering through the third “winter vortex” blast, and I’m pining for my old hood. These pictures show the route my dog and I would take along the shoreline for morning walks. According to my dog, there is no better place to poop than on the shoreline (mommy always picks it up, of course). The one hazy looking picture is of a spanish style house off of a main shoreline street. This is architecturally an […]

USS Lexington
Corpus Christi, TX ~ The Corpus Christi Bay houses a number of attractions. These pictures were taken while visiting the USS Lexington and the Texas State Aquarium. You can swim in the bay, but you’ll see far more fishers than swimmers. It goes without saying that Texas is hot in the summers, but Corpus is unbelievably hot AND humid. The original photos had such a haze that the color was grayish. The colors have been adjusted a bit, perhaps too […]

The Boys Are Back in Town
Manistee, MI ~ This town will be forever associated with my husband’s friends, and the good times we had visiting them. We don’t make it up there nearly as often as we’d like, but whenever we do we have the red carpet rolled out for us. I have so many great memories of good people, good times, and a lot of drink. The quiet times were also enjoyable; we had many peaceful strolls along the beach and even swam a […]

Mackinac Island Mainland
Mackinac Island, MI ~ I truly regret not getting more photos of the homes and buildings on this island. We were having too much fun I guess. This is one of the most beautiful getaways I’ve ever been on. Most travel is done by bike, buggy, or foot, which means a lot of exercise and outdoor time. The historic element is amazing. It is as if the town is preserved in time, a pristine reflection of the Victorian era. One […]

Mackinac Island Shoreline
Mackinac Island, MI ~ This is one of the most beautiful places I’ve visited. There is so much history and beauty to behold. The time it takes to fully explore requires more than a typical weekend stay. Most of these pictures were captured while bicycling around the island, which is what most visitors do since not too many cars are transported over. A special thanks to Matthew Lindeman for being our expert guide and gracious host!

Bears Knight Inn
Cascade, ID ~ Cascade isn’t too far from Boise. This was a wonderful getaway. We stayed at the Bears Knight Inn, a really cute place with a huge gift shop. The town was neat, but the drive up was the most interesting part. Winding up the mountains on a two lane road with ice and snow was teeth clenching. We had to stop a couple of times to regain our bearings. At the time I feared for our lives, thinking we […]

Frozen Great Lakes
South Haven, MI ~ We visited South Haven in late December. Michigan is cold in the winter, but even colder near the lake. Seeing the frozen shore was fun, but a little dangerous. The shore is icy, making it difficult to walk, but well worth the risk. It is not evident in these photos, but the wind gusts were also quite powerful.
