Bears Knight Inn

May 6, 2012 by E. Casa de Calvo

Cascade, ID ~ Cascade isn’t too far from Boise. This was a wonderful getaway. We stayed at the Bears Knight Inn, a really cute place with a huge gift shop. The town was neat, but the drive up was the most interesting part. Winding up the mountains on a two lane road with ice and snow was teeth clenching. We had to stop a couple of times to regain our bearings. At the time I feared for our lives, thinking we […]

Carlsbad Caverns National Park

May 5, 2012 by E. Casa de Calvo

Carlsbad, NM ~ Carlsbad is a neat place, but somewhat out of the way. If planning to visit, it would be best to anticipate spending the entire day, or more, here. The cavern tours can take hours depending on how far you’d like to walk. You certainly wouldn’t want to rush that, not that you could – them caves are slippery! I also enjoyed walking around outside. Historic Boise

May 4, 2012 by E. Casa de Calvo

Boise, ID ~ I was in awe of the beautiful neighborhoods throughout Boise. The town is rich in history. The cathedral featured below was located directly across the street from our residence. On the other side of this cathedral was a really neat co-op with fabulously healthy food. It was nice being able to walk to the grocery store.

Anne Frank Memorial

April 22, 2012 by E. Casa de Calvo

Boise, ID ~ Boise is a beautiful town with many parks and trails. My daily walk consisted of walking past the capitol, through downtown, and past this particular park: The Idaho Anne Frank Human Rights Memorial.  In addition to the beautiful fountain and sculptures, the memorial park contains a large “Quote Wall” featuring historical quotes from inspirational figures. The nearby bridges are also spectacular. Wintertime was fun; living with snow was new to me, now it is just an annoyance.
