May 19, 2020 by E. Casa de Calvo

Quebec City, QC ~ Old Quebec is walled by fortifications dating back to the 17th century, and full of historic landmarks and museums. The Upper Town contains a Citadelle fort from the 1800s, the grand Château Frontenac hotel and Terrasse Dufferin, a boardwalk overlooking the St. Lawrence River.

Île d’Orléans

December 29, 2018 by E. Casa de Calvo

Quebec, QC ~ The historic Île d’Orléans is located in the St. Lawrence river, within view of Quebec City. Visitors can experience traditional French countryside, regional cuisine, historic sites, and local homemade goods. Some of the things you’ll need to try when visiting: local wine, fruits and vegetables, honey, maple products, and dairy products. The views are also spectacular!

Downtown Red Wing

May 16, 2018 by E. Casa de Calvo

Red Wing, MN ~ Red Wing is located on the Mississippi River. It is known for natural attractions, nearby Frontenac State Park is popular for birdwatching. It is also known for, you guessed it, Red Wing Shoes and Red Wing Stoneware. Most towns situated on the Mississippi make for beautiful places to visit. This town is no exception, and has a lot of historic charm.

Red Wing Amtrak Depot (RDW)

May 16, 2018 by E. Casa de Calvo

Red Wing, MN ~ The Red Wing Amtrak runs the Empire Builder line, which runs daily from Chicago, Seattle, and Portland, with westbound stops at Winona and Saint Paul Minnesota. The station was opened in 1905. It is located on the Mississippi River and houses the Red Wing Visitor and Convention Bureau. It was a cold day on this visit, but the station and platform were very peaceful and inviting – a nice place to sit and watch the trains […]

Canal Street

September 10, 2012 by E. Casa de Calvo

New Orleans, LA ~ This goes without saying – New Orleans is a fun place! The first few pictures (theater and street car lines) were taken at the beginning of Canal Street. The next four pictures were taken at the end of Canal, which stops at the Mississippi river. While on this trip, my camera and I got caught in a rain storm. My first love – my first fancy camera – died on this trip. The last three pictures in this […]

The Boys Are Back in Town

June 6, 2012 by E. Casa de Calvo

Manistee, MI ~ This town will be forever associated with my husband’s friends, and the good times we had visiting them. We don’t make it up there nearly as often as we’d like, but whenever we do we have the red carpet rolled out for us. I have so many great memories of good people, good times, and a lot of drink. The quiet times were also enjoyable; we had many peaceful strolls along the beach and even swam a […]
