Lubbock, TX ~ The National Ranching Heritage Center showcases Lubbock’s rich ranching history and pioneer days. There are numerous exhibits that highlight the tools of the day. This set of photos showcases the interior designs of different eras.

Lubbock Lake Landmark

May 12, 2012 by E. Casa de Calvo

Lubbock, TX ~ The Lubbock Lake Landmark is an archeological and natural history preserve. No actual lake exists here, but an attempt to create one in the 1930’s revealed artifacts of inhabitants spanning nearly 12,000 years. The sculptures below are said to be reconstructed from bones found here. You can observe actual digs, and even participate in some. This is a fascinating place!

Historic Boise

May 4, 2012 by E. Casa de Calvo

Boise, ID ~ I was in awe of the beautiful neighborhoods throughout Boise. The town is rich in history. The cathedral featured below was located directly across the street from our residence. On the other side of this cathedral was a really neat co-op with fabulously healthy food. It was nice being able to walk to the grocery store.

I have yet to visit a comparable city, except perhaps for Des Moines, IA. Finally, if you are ever in the neighborhood, you must visit the Egyptian Theater. It was established in 1927, and has been beautifully maintained. […]

Old Idaho State Penitentiary

May 3, 2012 by E. Casa de Calvo

Boise, ID ~ This is a popular place to exercise. Located behind the penitentiary are large bluffs and walking trails. Many people park their cars at the base of the hills and walk/jog the trails. You could spend all day here depending on how far you’d like to go. Many of these pictures were taken at the top of these bluffs.  As a side note, the penitentiary is said to be haunted. For those of you who are fans, the Ghost […]
