Sedona, AZ ~ Beautiful hiking trail, roughly 4 miles. I visited in summer, and really underestimated the heat – the dry heat sneaks up on you! It was still an amazing hike. I highly recommend it for beginners like me.

Washington, D.C. ~ Captured these beauties while strolling through D.C., mainly around the national mall and monuments. I was fortunate to have visited at the beginning of the spring bloom. Also very lucky to have had perfect weather. Overall, it was a perfect visit!

Québec, Canada ~ These photos were taken while visiting Parc Boisé du Quai, at the end of Rue-Sainte Anne in the city of Baie-Saint-Paul. We wandered down the only street we could find that would take us to the water. Discovering the park and walking trails was a pleasant surprise. Baie-Saint-Paul has many wonderful restaurants and historic attractions. We just need to brush up on our French, because this is an exclusively French speaking area.

New Orleans, LA ~ This is only a glimpse of Tulane’s campus. The grounds are quite large, and we didn’t have enough time to see everything. Even still, we had a very pleasurable stroll on a very nice day!

Westwego, LA ~ We drove to Westwego, about 20 miles away from New Orleans, for a swamp tour of Bayou Segnette. We saw all kinds of neat critters; gators, birds, and the neatest of all – a family of nutrias building a nest. The tour was relaxing and peaceful. The tour guide mentioned that he used to play in these swamps as a kid… without a boat. I’m surprised he is still alive to tell about it!

Onekama, MI ~ I regret that I only took two pictures on our quick detour in Onekama, MI. These shots were taken outside of the Onekama Library. This was before we owned smart phones, so we needed to ask a live human for directions while on a road trip. This seemed like a peaceful place to read a book.

Mackinac Island, MI ~ I truly regret not getting more photos of the homes and buildings on this island. We were having too much fun I guess. This is one of the most beautiful getaways I’ve ever been on. Most travel is done by bike, buggy, or foot, which means a lot of exercise and outdoor time. The historic element is amazing. Post, TX ~ Post is a small town about 45 minutes away from Lubbock, TX. This was often a stopping point on our way out of town. There is a really good (in a bad way) burger stand on the north side of town. Levelland, TX ~ Levelland is about forty minutes away from Lubbock, TX. This is a nice drive if you want to get out of town for a while (assuming you live in Lubbock). Plenty of fields and sky to admire on the way, and a beautiful park and town square to enjoy when you arrive. We even drove out here once just to do laundry.
