The Boys Are Back in Town | Manistee, MI

June 6, 2012 by E. Casa de Calvo

I have many great memories of good people and good times. The quiet times were also enjoyable; many peaceful strolls along the beach and even a little bit of swimming. I can’t tell you how nice it is to swim in a large body of water without worrying about critters. The Great Lakes are grrreat!

Mackinac Island Mainland | Mackinac Island, MI

May 30, 2012 by E. Casa de Calvo

I truly regret not getting more photos of the homes and buildings on this island. I was having too much fun I guess. This is one of the most beautiful getaways I’ve ever been on. Most travel is done by bike, buggy, or foot, which means a lot of exercise and outdoor time. The historic element is amazing. It is as if the town is preserved in time, a pristine reflection of the Victorian era.

Mackinac Island Shoreline | Mackinac Island, MI

May 28, 2012 by E. Casa de Calvo

This is one of the most beautiful places I’ve visited. There is so much history and beauty to behold. The time it takes to fully explore requires more than a typical weekend stay. Most of these pictures were captured while bicycling around the island, which is what most visitors do since not too many cars are transported over.

St. Ignace Lighthouse | St. Ignace, MI

May 24, 2012 by E. Casa de Calvo

Michigan gets more beautiful the further north you go. St. Ignace is one of those northern towns. It has many beautiful attractions and is a primary port for ferries transporting people to and from Mackinac Island. This set of pictures was taken at the docks near the St. Ignace Lighthouse.

West Texas Views | Levelland, TX

May 10, 2012 by E. Casa de Calvo

Levelland is about forty minutes away from Lubbock, TX. This is a nice drive if you want to get out of town for a while (assuming you live in Lubbock). Plenty of fields and sky to admire on the way, and a beautiful park and town square to enjoy when you arrive.

Bears Knight Inn | Cascade, ID

May 6, 2012 by E. Casa de Calvo

Cascade isn’t too far from Boise. This was a wonderful getaway. I stayed at the Bears Knight Inn, a really cute place with a huge gift shop. The town was neat, but the drive up was the most interesting part. Winding up the mountains on a two lane road with ice and snow was teeth clenching.

Boise Train Depot | Boise, ID

May 3, 2012 by E. Casa de Calvo

The Boise Train Depot has a long history (established in 1881). In 1924 it was remodeled to reflect a Spanish style architecture. It was operational, off and on, until 1997. It is presently listed on the National Registrar of Historic Places, and is a popular tourist attraction.

Anne Frank Memorial | Boise, ID

April 22, 2012 by E. Casa de Calvo

Boise, ID ~ Boise is a beautiful town with many parks and trails. My daily walk consisted of walking past the capitol, through downtown, and past this particular park: The Idaho Anne Frank Human Rights Memorial.  In addition to the beautiful fountain and sculptures, the memorial park contains a large “Quote Wall” featuring historical quotes from inspirational figures. The nearby bridges are also spectacular. Wintertime was fun; living with snow was new to me, now it is just an annoyance.
