The Myrtles Plantation
St Francisville, LA ~ These photos were taken in 2010, with one of my first cameras, so the quality is not that great.This hotel is known to be extremely haunted. We had a few spooky events occur while staying here, but nothing too terrifying. The food and service was fantastic, and the scenery is beautiful. I’d recommend their restaurant if you are in the area, but I think that one night stay was enough for me.

Tulane University | Interior
New Orleans, LA ~ This heading is a bit deceptive. A better title would have been “Tulane Student Union.” I love taking pictures of places that look abandoned. These pictures were taken over a holiday break, thus the absence of students. It is always a pleasure to walk around feeling like you own the place!

Tulane University | Exterior
New Orleans, LA ~ This is only a glimpse of Tulane’s campus. The grounds are quite large, and we didn’t have enough time to see everything. Even still, we had a very pleasurable stroll on a very nice day!

St. Louis Cemetery No. 1
New Orleans, LA ~ If you make your way to New Orleans, the St. Louis Cemeteries are a must see. These cemeteries are said to be the oldest of its type – with above ground tombs. There are many famous people buried here, including Voodoo Queen Marie Laveau. Swamp Tour
Westwego, LA ~ We drove to Westwego, about 20 miles away from New Orleans, for a swamp tour of Bayou Segnette. We saw all kinds of neat critters; gators, birds, and the neatest of all – a family of nutrias building a nest. The tour was relaxing and peaceful. The tour guide mentioned that he used to play in these swamps as a kid… without a boat. I’m surprised he is still alive to tell about it!

Jackson Square
New Orleans, LA ~ Jackson Square, named after Andrew Jackson, is a huge attraction in New Orleans. It is located in the French Quarter around many other historical sites, including the St. Louis Cathedral (also pictured). French Quarter | Summer
New Orleans, LA ~ If you visit New Orleans, you will most likely end up in the French Quarter at some point. These photos are a glimpse of the storefronts and residential areas of the Quarter. Shrimp Boats
Westwego, LA ~ These fishing boats were docked near the Market Wego, which is in walking distance. The market offers fresh fish and other local catches. These pictures were taken at the start of a swamp tour. After the tour we purchased a chicken stuffed with crawfish and dirty rice… yummmmie! The best. The fishing economy has really struggled since Katrina, so this was a somewhat somber experience, but you can’t keep the people of Louisiana down!
