San Antonio Shoe Factory | Autos

February 10, 2018 by E. Casa de Calvo

San Antonio, TX ~ San Antonio Shoe (SAS) Factory, 101 New Laredo Hwy, San Antonio, TX 78211. These photos were taken in 2010, so these cars may or may not still be located on site. SAS is a family owned shoe retailer. We stopped by for the old-timey cars!

Downtown Waxahachie

October 8, 2017 by E. Casa de Calvo

Waxahachie, TX ~ One of my favorite places to be! The people are nice, the stores are unique, and there is history at every turn. Each building has an original style and most are very well maintained. Anyone who loves antiquing should consider a weekend visit.

Our Lady of Guadalupe and Citi Field

May 1, 2017 by E. Casa de Calvo

New York, NY ~ While visiting NYC we stayed at Chelsea Pines Inn on W 14th St., which we highly recommend. Directly across the street is the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church at St. Bernard’s. Capturing the full scope of a large building in a tight city street isn’t easy, but I thought this one was worth a try. We also had a chance to catch a game at Citi Field. Unbeknownst to me, I was sporing the opposing […]

Historic Montréal

May 1, 2017 by E. Casa de Calvo

Montréal, Canada ~ The first photo in this series is of our hotel room at Parc Suites Hotel, 3463 Park Ave, Montreal, QC H2X 2H6, Canada (parcsuites.com). I’m sure there are fancier, newer places to stay nearby, but we greatly enjoyed this particular hotel because of the homely feel of the rooms and friendliness of the staff. You feel like you are staying in your own downtown apartment. From this location we were able to walk in all directions, exploring […]

Modern Montréal

May 1, 2017 by E. Casa de Calvo

Montréal, Canada ~ Montréal is a vibrant city, mixed with historic and modern architecture, and equally diverse citizens. Our stay here was brief, but we fell in love instantly. These photos were taken on a stroll one afternoon around the city. I usually jot down the names of the streets and major locations, but I was having too much fun sightseeing, and completely forgot to take notes. Anyhow, you’ll just have to visit to see these places for yourself!

Wintery Winona

December 14, 2016 by E. Casa de Calvo

Winona, MN ~ This is Winona in the winter. This particular winter was mild, or so they say – I’m a Texan, all Minnesota winters are brutal to me. The aerial views were taken from E. Garvin Heights Rd., where you can drive all the way to the top of a bluff and see the entire city spanning the Mississippi. The ducks are swimming near the Winona Visitor’s Center, situated right on Lake Winona. The remaining city street pictures were […]

Baie Saint Paul

February 10, 2016 by E. Casa de Calvo

Québec, Canada ~ These photos were taken while visiting Parc Boisé du Quai, at the end of Rue-Sainte Anne in the city of Baie-Saint-Paul. We wandered down the only street we could find that would take us to the water. Discovering the park and walking trails was a pleasant surprise. Baie-Saint-Paul has many wonderful restaurants and historic attractions. We just need to brush up on our French, because this is an exclusively French speaking area.

Halloween French Quarter

November 25, 2015 by E. Casa de Calvo

New Orleans, LA ~ I had the pleasure of visiting New Orleans near Halloween. I guess much doesn’t change in these parts, a bit spooky all year long. We did see some strange things. While dining at Ignatius on Magazine St. we witnessed a transformer blow up, knocking out power on the entire block. There was also the case of the mysterious spider bites. However, the scariest thing was the giant head of Abraham Lincoln somewhere on Royal St.

Southern Bride

November 25, 2015 by E. Casa de Calvo

New Orleans, LA ~ My sister entrusted me to take bridal pictures of her in preparation for her upcoming wedding. We broke many laws scouring New Orleans for the best locations. “Permits? We don’t need no stinking permits!” What you don’t see in these photos are the many onlookers shouting (mostly) words of support and encouragement. We had a lot of fun running around the city in a wedding dress, and can’t wait to do it again… just kidding! Love […]
