Red Wing, MN ~ Red Wing is located on the Mississippi River. It is known for natural attractions, nearby Frontenac State Park is popular for birdwatching. It is also known for, you guessed it, Red Wing Shoes and Red Wing Stoneware. Most towns situated on the Mississippi make for beautiful places to visit. This town is no exception, and has a lot of historic charm.

Red Wing Amtrak Depot (RDW)

Red Wing, MN ~ The Red Wing Amtrak runs the Empire Builder line, which runs daily from Chicago, Seattle, and Portland, with westbound stops at Winona and Saint Paul Minnesota. Madison Square

Savannah, GA ~ Madison Square dates back to 1839, and features a bronze monument of Sergeant William Jasper, an American Revolutionary War soldier. St. John’s Episcopal Church (est. 1853) is also located within the square. The historic square is known to have hosted guests like General William Sherman and Robert E. Capitol Hill Hotel

Washington, D.C. ~ I had the pleasure of staying at the Capitol Hill Hotel, located in (you guessed it!) Capitol Hill. International Spy Museum

National Gallery of Art Sculpture Garden

Washington, D.C. ~ If you are in the D.C. area, you should stop by the National Gallery of Art Sculpture Garden. The onsite Pavilion Café isn’t too shabby either. My favorite sculpture has to be the “Entrance to the Paris Metro” by Hector Guimard. The Typewriter Eraser is also pretty cool.

United States Capitol

Washington, D.C. ~ The United States Capitol, home of the United States Congress. Located at: East Capitol St NE & First St SE, Washington, DC 20004. Whenever I think of the legislative system, I can’t help but hearing the Schoolhouse Rock song, I’m Just a Bill (1975).

MKT Train Depot & Boyce Feed Store

Waxahachie, TX ~ The historic MKT Depot is located at 501 S. Rogers St. Waxahachie, TX 75165. Restoration was completed in 2010. Prior to that the depot was a stop on the Missouri-Kansas-Texas (MKT) rail line until 1964, primarily hauling cotton to local markets. Boyce Feed Store is located across the street from the depot. The feed store sells what you would expect (animal feed), but also has very cute shabby chic home decor and country ready clothing.
